We had an excellent experience with Thomas Engineering. The engineer came out to inspect our entire home, and he was incredibly thorough. He took his time walking through the property, taking different types of measurements, and making sure nothing was overlooked. We will be getting our full report soon but in the meantime, he didn’t leave us hanging He answered every question we had and let us know that our foundation is actually in great condition.

Honestly, I strongly recommend hiring a structural engineer before calling any foundation company to do work or give quotes. Spending the money on a great non-biased structural engineer like Thomas Engineering Consultants can save you thousands of dollars, and that’s exactly what happened for us. Having someone come in, look at everything objectively, and give honest, detailed feedback saved us both money and time.

I got a job out-of-state, and it's been stressful trying to manage temporary renters at our Texas home. Recently, a hot water pipe in our crawl space broke, which caused foundation concerns. Not being there in person, we had no way of knowing whether the foundation repair companies (which quoted $50k and $30k) were being honest. Thankfully, Tommy was there for us. He reviewed the foundation repair estimates and findings and recommended we take care of any mold caused by moisture and wait at least 12 months for the ground to thoroughly dry before considering foundation repair, as the situation is is not currently urgent or dangerous. That's what we did. The folks at Thomas Engineering pointed out several deficiencies and remedies, none of which included foundation repairs.

In our case, Thomas Engineering said the main culprits are inadequate and improper drainage and pesky tree roots. Their analysis included suggestions for fixing the problems.
