We had been dreading getting a new roof, but due to evident leaks and an existing roof more than 22 years old, it was time. I got estimates from three different area companies, one estimate was almost twice as high as the other two estimates and GKontos was the most affordable option. GKontos was also the most thorough in inspection, customer service and installation. They were friendly, available and made the process extremely easy. The workmanship and supplies used qualify us for the GAF Golden Pledge Warranty which essentially guarantees replacement materials, labor, cost to tear off, etc. for 50 years! Gkontos did an excellent job and applied top quality material. Their folds who I spoke to along the way behaved very professionally and were always courteous and clear. They worked with the material supplier to arrange for a warranty, and entered the application to secure it. The work crew came on the days that were planned and finished the work when they had committed to. When I asked for additional cleanup where there was some minor discoloration of the driveway, they did a thorough job and left it looking very good. They were relatively expensive, but I believe that the premium job and materials make it worth the cost. Read more >

We interviewed several contractors. Kontos was not the cheapest, but we strongly felt that they were competent, attentive, customer oriented and efficient. They fully lived up to our expectations.

Installation was done with care and consideration for our plants and outdoor furniture. They also were very careful to match finishes on wood that they had to replace.

We just had our roof replaced by GKontos. The first thing that we liked was that Greg, the salesperson and estimator, told us that our roof really didn't need replacing yet, which we knew. However, we were concerned about some shingle movement, which he gave some possible reasons for and my husband checked. We ultimately decided to replace the roof now before any problems arose, but there was no pressure from Greg. We called several other local companies to get bids. Two did not return calls and one did not show up when we said we were getting several bids. We had our roof replaced about 10-12 years ago. I called back that company to evaluate a leak, determined to be from the skylights. They said it would take two days to replace 3 skylights, would take weeks to months to get the skylights. Had my suspicions, seemed overpriced, figured I would get another estimate. Most skylights are from Velux so I checked for local installers, read reviews, decided to call G. Kontos. Extent of damage was as reported. That's where the similarity ended. Price, for the same stuff, was about $2000 less than the first estimate. This has never been the deciding factor for me. They were much more professional from the start. GKontos came highly recommended, and they didn't disappoint. They were attentive in giving me an estimate, took care of all of the permits quickly, and did the job in a day.

I had a leaking flat roof caused by bad flashing and a whole mess of other shoddy workmanship by whoever did my original roof. The repairs that GKontos did involved replacing the flat roof, and tearing up a portion of my pitched shingle roof to join the two properly. They matched my existing roof shingles perfectly in terms of color and did an outstanding job reshingling and fixing some other flashing problems around my chimneys. The new flat roof looks infinitely better than the last one.

My gutter guys noticed a small crack in my rubber roof and recommended GKontos. I was afraid we couldn't get it attended to as winter had already set in.
