let me tell you something: if you're not eating at Chubby Trout, you're doing food wrong. This place is the kind of joint that lures you in with good vibes and keeps you coming back with food that hits harder than your ex's emotional baggage.

But let’s talk about the real stars of the show—Hailey & Syna. Our servers. Our guides. Our food fairies. They were sharp, sassy, and smooth. The food was great. The sushi or rib-eye could start a religion. Even the side salad slapped.

We would gladly drive an hour to have a date night here! Our waitress, Ashley K, was very good!
We did not have to ask for a refill one time. She went above and beyond by asking the kitchen to split our order on two plates without us asking.
The food was delicious. We ordered the sampler and calamari fingers.
The trout was a little salty, but it was still delicious.
Well done!

We stopped for an early dinner after a long day. Kiah was such a breath of fresh air, very engaging. There’s a fine line between being intrusive and interesting conversation. The calamari fingers are excellent, a great sharing appetizer. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the shrimp tacos were great. Generous portions.

The post below was from 4 years ago, which was way different than our experience on Monday evening. Chubby Trout has always been my favorite place. I spent 33 years in Washington state and was desperate for good seafood in a landlocked state. Chubby Trout has always filled that need for me. Monday was very disappointing! My husband, daughter and I went for our 7th anniversary. We ordered fairly quickly, then waited over 2 hours for food. The espresso martini was delicious, but on an empty stomach, I didn't like the way I felt. By the time we got our food, I wasn't even hungry anymore. Consequently, my husband was in a terrible food for our special day, and I was eating dinner after what would normally be my bedtime since I get up at 4am to work for the County. The server did give us a free dessert for our anniversary, but I honestly would have rather had a cut in the bill for the time...

We visit the Chicago area once a year. Elkhart, Indiana is a good stopping point for us. The first time we stopped the we decided to try Chubby Trout. Glad we did. It was excellent. Now we look forward to stopping in Elkhart to go for dinner. The food is wonderful and the service is as good as it gets. So Chubby Trout deserves 5 stars!

We hosted a large dinner party at the Chubby Trout. Managers Sierra and Meagan coordinated everything perfectly prior to our arrival. Dani and Hailey did an amazing job as our servers. Kudos to this outstanding team for providing us with a wonderful experience!!

Amazing people and service! The food is always divine; I’ve never had a bad meal, or bad experience here. I always feel like family. I use Chubby Trout for catering for several annual events. They are THE. BEST. AROUND. PERIOD!!

A great local spot, feels like a pub. Has a bar and tables for eating with table service. Service has always been great. They are sea food and sushi heavy but the do have a burger, a couple of chicken items, etc.

If you're in Elkhart and not eating here you're messing up.

While in town for work, I dined alone at the bar. Syna made me feel like I was home. Very friendly service, good food, great drinks (including getting to sample one I was curious about). I would definitely come back.
