Is a Sherlock Holmes really needed in HVAC? For the most part, unless you or a loved one do HVAC, you are at the mercy of your selected HVAC "professional.” At least some AC companies have proved to be unprofessional by focusing their business on sales over technical accuracy. I contacted this company initially for a AC that was blowing air but it wasn't cooling. Sherlock diagnosed it and replaced a part. During the replacement he blew a freon line, repaired it, and refilled the system with freon. All seemed to be in order and I was happy with the work.

He then recommended replacing some duct work, a freon valve, and our thermostats. I purchased all of this and scheduled the work. Sherlocks duct work guys did a good job except for hanging one of my trees with their truck and ripping it out of the ground. After a week or so our original AC issue returned, blowing air that wasn't cool enough. Sherlock believed the planned valve exchange would fix it. It didn't.

After the valve was installed he charged me more than quoted because the part cost more than he said it would. The air blowing but not cooling issue persisted. Through all of...
