RES is truly God sent and if i could give them 100 stars I would. Our home warranty company had their HVAC contractor come out to diagnose our non working Air conditioner. The company wanted $2500 to fix an evaporator coil and replace the unit with 10 pounds of R22. If you know the history of R22 refrigerant, you know that the price per pound has constantly gone up over the years due to production decreasing significantly. As of 2020 R22 will be obsolete and no longer produced due to it being harmful, etc. With that being said the option was either fix the evaporator coil for a system that would no longer have readily available refrigerant or buy a new AC unit.
Replacing the AC unit is one of those things that you know will eventually come as a home owner, but you definitely dread that day or hope you win lottery. Well it came and I didn't win the lottery per say, but...
