I had a retinal vein occlusion in one eye and it required injectable drug ( VEGF inhibitor) which was injected to my eye by Dr. Shaw monthly 2x. then every 2 months 2 x and then the scans of retina looked normal and my vision recovered and was stable. Dr. Shaw was expected to follow the protocol for my condition which is ongoing periodic injections every couple months, however with my request for watchful observation, he respected my decision to skip the injection and have my eyes monitored at regular intervals . He was pleased on my recent follow up visit as the retina was stable and no deterioration was seen , so he agreed to continue ongoing observation and report if needed in case of any changes. I appreciate this personal approach and respectful attitude as much as his professional expertise and ability to support recovery of vision in the eye .
