My kids have participated in many of the youth photo camps that Ruth has led over the years. They have also benefited from her experience through private lesson time with her. She has taught them in a fun and engaging way to enjoy nature and take good photos. Because of her great teaching of how to compose as well as process pictures, they have had great success in photography competition and learned to respect and preserve their environment.

Few years ago, I explored nature photography in south texas and had Ruth as our guide at one of the photography ranch. Her knowledge and expertise in nature and bird/wildlife is quite extensive and allows us to capture cool images and me personally to observe and learn how to approach nature beauties and yet be kind of them. I would highly recommend to use Ruth's guiding service if you plan to do nature photography in south texas area.

I have taken two classes from Ruth. The first was with the Texas Master Naturalist group at Ramsey Park. It was an outside field trip photo class. The second was at the Soith Padre Island Birding and Nature Center. It was both classroom and outside on the boardwalk. Both classes were excellent. What makes her class so fun and rewarding is her enthusiasm for teaching and turning the class onto both the natural world and the art of capturing it with your own camera. My wife and I wanted a nature photography vacation in South Texas and, after reviewing several opportunities, chose Ruth. On the day of our adventure, we were blessed with very good weather and light. Ruth met us at a convenient location and led us onto the ranch a short distance away. We were positioned in a comfortable pit blind by early morning and were photographing birds almost immediately. I don't want to give away Ruth's secrets, but the methods she uses to attract birds to perfect photography setups and distances are sophisticated and ingenious! My wife and I each took hundreds of photos at both the morning and evening stand locations. And honestly, we could have taken a lot more. Because of the tremendous extent of the photographic opportunities, we had the luxury of being quite selective.

I first meet Ms Ruth in January 2016, it's been a wonderful experience learning what photographers do and how they plan thier photo shoots, I spent about an hour helping Ms Hoyt when she takes some of our reptiles for a shoot and it was one of the nicest experiences I've ever had.

My family and I have been very fortunate to have received private photo lessons and guided opportunities for photos of amazing wildlife in their native habitat. Ruth Hoyt was awesome. I spent several days in South Texas photographing wildlife with Ruth. She really helps set-up the shots for the best possible photographs. I am after quality pictures that I can use in competitions and publications. With the help of Ruth, I was able to obtain more quality images than I had hoped for. Ruth knows the birds from their calls and behavior as well as by sight. This really helps in bringing the birds to the blinds. She is very dedicated to her clients. One client accidentally erased his days images from his CF card. Ruth stayed up until 3am using her software to recover the images. That is after getting up at 6am to go to the blinds. Now that is dedication!

Ruth is one of the best instructors. Knowing how to make lemonade from a lemon of a day. Clouds, high winds changed the lesson from Plant Macros to Abstracts with Flowers. Ruth is ever ready to share a tidbit to improve photographic skills. Bottom line is you will not be disappointed with photo shoot or class when Ruth leads the way.

I worked with Ruth last week at a ranch in Southern Texas. Ruth was a delight to work with. She is extremely knowledgable about the species of birds both visually and listening to their various calls. Ruth understands the behavior of each species and is able to use that knowledge to attract them to the photo blinds. More than that, Ruth is an accomplished photographer in her own right. She understands how to set up the scene for the best perches and backgrounds to photograph the birds. Ruth has no problems with sharing her knowledge and experience to the benefit of her clients.
