I’ve had a really positive experience working with my acupuncturist, Fangrui Shu. I consider myself so lucky to have found New Hope Acupuncture! I was easily able to book my first appointment online and was seen for symptoms of back pain, knee pain and anxiety. My back and knee pain resolved after the first visit and my anxiety went from a level of ten to a more manageable 4. Scheduling follow up appointments has been quite simple and the front desk is amazing.

I live quite far away, so in the beginning every visit meant taking the T and the commuter rail. One time I even biked there in the rain, and Jia kindly helped me carry my heavy bicycle. I still think about moments like this and feel deeply touched.

In 2025, I was on certain medications that had significant side effects. At one point, I was not even able to cook for myself. Under Dr. Shu’s care, I gradually regained the ability to cook again and eventually going back to work 5 days a week.

Dr. Shu is a very skilled acupuncturist. I initially came to her for acute OHSS with abdominal and chest pain, and she helped me recover with acupuncture, qigong, and herbal medicine. Now she’s been treating my chronic issues like fibromyalgia, headaches, IBS, coldness and dampness in my body, and irregular periods. It’s hard to find a good acupuncturist, so I’m happy that my friend recommended Dr. Shu to me.

The front desk staff is very nice and friendly. The clinic is cozy and the pillows they use are so comfy that I bought two to use at home! There is also a big Asian grocery store not far away from the clinic, and we get some groceries and snacks on our way home.

I wanted to share my experience after about six months of acupuncture treatment for adenomyosis.

Before I started, my periods were very difficult—I had significant pain for 7–8 days every month, and the bleeding would drag on with spotting until around day 10. It was exhausting both physically and mentally.

After consistent treatment, the changes have been really encouraging. Now, I only feel a slight heaviness or mild discomfort on the first day of my period, and the rest of the days are much easier. My cycle has also become much shorter and cleaner—it now finishes within about 5 days instead of lingering.

I also followed the practitioner’s advice and took traditional Chinese herbal medicine alongside acupuncture, which I believe made a big difference in supporting the results.

The receptionist Jai is very responsive and able to assist from setting up the appointment for initial consultation and work out with the insurance provider for treatment approval. Always very welcoming whenever I came in to my visit and help prepare for my treatment.
I started my acupuncture treatments many years ago through several practices after traditional physical therapy and chiropractor’s treatment didn’t help resolve my longstanding chronic pain in lower back and ankle injuries.
Fortunately I was able to find a local practitioner whereas it is very conveniently locating closer to work and home and able to find a schedule to fit my needs.

I originally came in for shoulder pain from a skiing accident. At the same time I was experiencing relentless hot flashes and going through many life transitions. I was having a difficult time getting a grip. Acupuncture and the Chinese herbs Dr Shu prescribed really helped to restore balance in my body and mind. I had a beautiful journey at the first time at the New Hope, when Dr.Shu put the needles in my body, after 5 minutes something started in my hole body for a minute,and it flew away from me!!! I’ve had three acupuncture treatments with Dr. Shu so far, and I’m already seeing significant improvement. I originally came in for tennis elbow and persistent post-nasal drip, and both issues have noticeably improved after just a few sessions.

My elbow pain has decreased substantially — I can move and use my arm much more comfortably now. The post-nasal drip, which had been bothering me for quite some time, has also eased a lot.

It has been a great progress working with Dr. Shu at New Hope Accupunture. Dr. Shu has been treating my nerve pains and paralyzed leg due to cancer roughly about 2 months now. I started my acupuncture journey a little over a year ago and originally went to help with anxiety. I noticed an immediate improvement in my symptoms. I had tried acupuncture in the past at another place and never saw much improvement. The Dr. at New Hope is very thorough and individualized my treatment.
