Iowa Pointing Lab

Yesterday was our Iowa Pointing Labs pup's 4th birthday. She was a "COVID puppy" who joined us when we were isolating at home and I could no longer resist my husband's longing for a dog. I wanted a smaller, non-shedding breed. He wanted nothing but a lab. Now I know why; I am totally smitten with Sami. She has a beautiful face and is healthy, fit, active, quiet and an engaging companion. At 65 pounds, she's not a "big dog." My husband thought he'd hunt with Sami as he did with his previous labs, but that hasn't happened...though I have no doubt Sami would do well. She loves being outside and spends most of her days patrolling our 1 acre yard (with invisible fence.) She loves being given a command to chase the deer off our property. Her retrieving skills make her a rock star at lake shores or at the dog park where other dog owners inevitably say, "I...

Can't recommend IPL enough! Rocky has been a fantastic pup! He was a pup from Emma and Blaze. He's only 10 months currently and is already fantastic in the field. His first season and his points are already rock-hard, he patterns incredibly well, and has been great on retrieves. If you're on the fence about having Icber train your pup from them, do it! This dog is miles ahead of where he would be without his training. It is clear how well the dog liked him when I came to work with him. Also this dog has a great off switch at home, even with our kids tackling and wrestling with him! Highly recommend Iowa Pointing Labs for your next dog!

Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a hunting dog or an amazing dog in the home. I purchased a Black female a month ago, and Karissa is amazing at explaining everything and answering all of my questions. Amazing dogs amazing people that love and care about their dogs.

Icber and Karissa did a tremendous job with Red a pointing lab. I never seen a dog get excited about wanting his electronic collar on as Red. He listens well, quarter’s nicely and stays close when hunting birds.
His points are rock solid and he holds them until released.
Once retrieving a bird he sits at your side until you put your hand out and say drop it.

Red is only 16 months old and it look’s like he maybe one of my best hunting dogs. I have had dogs all my life and in my 60’s.

My parents got a beautiful red lab from Iowa Pointing Labs at the Harrisburg sportsman show a couple years ago, and she is the most lively, animated, and loving lab they’ve ever had. Because of this, I decided to purchase my black lab from the same breeder. Unfortunately, they did not attend the sportsman show die to the pandemic, so I had to fly to them to pick up my puppy which was DEFINITELY worth it! I spoke with Tim in January, and he told me right off the top of his head which litter would suit me best based on the demeanor I was looking for in a dog as well as the pick up date (because of my job, I needed a summer puppy).

I could not be happier with the training my 1.5 yr old lab received recently at IPL. I was having some problems correcting some bad behaviors that was preventing me from progressing with his field training. While he showed understanding of basic obedience commands to me, he was not consistent in obeying, would not calm down at home, frequently barking, and had recently began showing aggression toward family members, friends and other dogs. Tim took time to discuss my concerns and asked questions to understand what was going on. I took him to IPL for 2 weeks of boarding and training for an assessment on his obedience and aggression. I was amazed as the results. When he returned home after only 2 weeks, I now have an obedient, calm, well behaved, hardworking, and friendly dog that shows great desire to continue to learn and work in the field. Kirby is 11 months old now out of the Martin x Phoebe litter. He has been fantastic and has been pointing birds since he was about 5 months old or so. Recently he has started picking up speed in the field and it’s a lot of fun to watch him go from a full sprint to slamming on point. This is my first bird dog and am doing all the training myself and he’s been very easy to work with. Thanks again IPL!

Icber & Karissa were great to work with! Icber answered all my questions, even after I picked up our pup, Basilone. He was quick to answer texts, even if outside normal business hours when I wasn't expecting a response. I look forward to sending him back for training once he's about 6 months old.

Just got back from picking up Emma.Was very pleased with the early training conducted at Iowa Pointing Labs.She has already experienced bird retrieving,early obedience and shotgun awareness at 16 weeks.

Bought my dog here before he was born didn’t know what I was getting into other then the research I did online. My dog Duke is. Great hunting dog and a even better companion!

Iowa Hunter

My fox red lab, Ruby, was trained for birds at Iowa Pointing Labs. In her first season, we put about 100 birds over her and she blew away my expectations. She was trained incredibly well by Icber and always works closely with me. We had a handful of perfect points, more than I could have expected from a puppy under a year old. The staff are friendly and responsive—while Ruby was there for six weeks, we were able to coordinate a visit and check on her progress. Great people!

My wife and I recently purchased a male chocolate lab puppy from Iowa Pointing Labs. The entire experience was terrific. We dealt with Icber and Karrissa. They were both extremely easy and helpful in any way we asked of them. We constantly received updated pictures and statues of our new family member Casey. We would highly recommend Iowa Pointing Labs to anyone looking for a high quality lab as they handle the dogs with a lot of love and care as well as following up on our puppy to see how he is doing

They have put our dog Max through extended training. Lots of videos of progress and work with us to know how to follow up at home. Icber is great.

I picked up my 10 mos old female Lexi a week and a half ago after having her trainer Icber show me some of her field work. She’s just a great pointing retriever already. I’ve had her out with planted birds here at home in CA. She’s steady, holds her point and made long retrieves like an old pro. Thanks to trainer Icber for his great work and Tim for putting up with my many questions while she was in training. Can’t wait for quail season to open now!!!

I purchased my male lab from them and had him stay for the boot camp which well worth it. He was conditioned for reward and that made training at home easier. I just sent him up for 2 months of bird training and I am very pleased with the result. I received weekly video updates and the trainer spent as much time as I needed when I picked him up to answer questions.

This trainer Icebr has been such a great influence in my pup Kings life. He has done a wonderful job with him and I could not be happier with my labs performance thus far. What an intelligent dog he is, thank you again Icebr.

When we picked him up you can tell they care about their labs. The facility was clean and Tim was great about making sure we had everything we needed and all our questions answered before leaving. Our pup did go through the Headstart Program which I HIGHLY recommend. In the future will be definitely be adding a play mate for Knox. You can tell by the pics he is a very spoiled, well loved and great addition to our family. He loves when our kids play baseball and basketball outside. He is right there to join in the action. We are in LOVE with him.
