We did the board and train for both of our Goldens and regularly board them with Devan. They love going there. I feel very confident in the training they receive and how they are cared for and treated. Devan is very good with the dogs and they respond very well to him. I would definitely recommend him to others!

Devon has been great with our rescue. She was almost uncontrollable before we started training and now she's well behaved and understands our commands. Devon also taught my wife and I the proper way to train, which helped more than anything.

Devan has been absolutely AMAZING! We adopted our Corso/Dane mix, Moose when he was about a year old. As everyone got more comfortable Moose started to get what we thought was over protective of our family and people coming into our home. Moose stayed with Devan through his board and train program and did great but we knew we needed some more help with Moose’s behavior at home. Devan came for a home visit and instantly saw the issues we were dealing with. Devan didn’t hesitate to jump in and not only correct Moose’s behavior but also taught us what we need to do and practice with Moose so the bad behavior becomes a thing of the past. Devan walked us through every step and answered every question that we had. After one home visit Moose has been a different dog. I’m excited to see the progress Moose will make with more training and I’m greatful that we are learning as well!

First Gen Dog Training is amazing! We were struggling with our new puppy, it was starting to affect work. Then we found First Gen Dog Training. We started with a puppy consultation, then the two week board and train, then the two week off leash board and train. We are really glad we did, our dog Milo (Labrador Retriever) just turned 1 year old. He listens well and can even walk off leash.

Devon really understands how to train dogs and more importantly how to train us to get the best possible outcome. His methods are solid and Milo loves going to day care to see him.

We had been turned away from multiple trainers because she wasn't house trained (which was an issue we just couldn't correct nomatter how hard we tried). She had "dirty dog syndrome" from living her life in a shelter & eating, sleeping & pottying all in the same place. She chewed on everything she wasn't supposed to & was impossible to walk on a leash. Devan had Georgia for 3 weeks & when I tell you that she came back a different dog, I MEAN IT. She's so well mannered that my 10 yr old can walk her on a leash with ease. She waits to come out of the crate & to walk indoors. She sat STILL beside us & watched TV last night for almost 2 hours. I was floored. After we've perfected our basic training I fully plan to send her back for extensive training.

I can’t recommend Devan enough as a dog trainer! We signed up for six weeks of one-on-one training for our golden retriever, Tucker, and the transformation has been incredible. Before training, Tucker struggled with walking on the leash, aggression toward strangers, and general obedience.

Thanks to Devan’s expert guidance and tailored approach, Tucker has not only overcome these challenges but has also exceeded our expectations. He walks beautifully on the leash now, is much more relaxed around strangers, and listens so much better overall.

We have two large dogs that were completely uncontrollable until we contacted Fist Gen. After the first lesson, both were walking on a leash and sitting on command. Devon was amazing to work with. Not only did he help us train our dogs, he helped us be responsible dog owners by teaching us how to better control our dogs. If you have the time to work with your dogs one on one, I highly recommend the First Gen personal training sessions. It was well worth the cost to have two dogs we can now take anywhere.

I dropped my German Shepherd off for their board and train program and when I picked him up he was completely different. He actually listened and paid attention to me, learned a bunch of commands, and was a lot better on his leash. They did an amazing job and took great care of him. 100% would recommend!

Devon went above and beyond with the half feral, starved young pitbull I rescued making it possible to find him his forever home. Kevin had behaviors that could have been labeled as aggressive if observed by someone less experienced, and he recognized it as just undisciplined puppy behavior in a teenage dog. Kevin was able to relax and curb his hyper vigilance and enjoy life as a house hippo and get along with his new bully sister! You made this adventure rewarding!

Devon is a top tier dog trainer. My European Doberman has always had severe separation anxiety issues, making it difficult to board her or leave her with trusted sitters. Devon was able train her and get these issues under control, while instilling obedience in her that has made her far more manageable and well behaved at home. When I travel, he is the only person I 100 percent trust to board her with. I know that she is loved and cared for while I am away. I strongly recommend him to anyone who needs basic to advance training for their pets or to anyone looking to board their dog while they travel. He is genuinely invested in all the dogs he works with and provides the utmost care for them.

I cannot recommend First Gen Dog Training enough. Our black lab puppy was driving us absolutely crazy. After an extended in-house training period with another trainer, our dog still caused havoc in our house to the point where we could not take our eyes off him for 30 seconds. He chewed our leather couch, destroyed household furnishings, and ate absolutely everything in sight. He was exhausting and we considered rehoming him. In an last ditch effort, we hired Devan who corrected his behavior in a positive way and trained us how to continue training him properly at home. Our dog now walks on a leash, stays on his place when told, and doesn't counter surf. Devan scheduled numerous follow-up visits to ensure the training 'stuck', and every time our dog sees him - his tail wags with excitement. Devon & team have been absolutely incredible in working with with my now 1 year old GSD and myself. After a devastating experience with another trainer, Devon helped Metchie start to become a happy, well behaved dog with his 2 week board & train. I didn’t know if I would trust my dog with anyone else again but he makes it easy. Metchie still has a long way to go but I know Devon will get him there in no time. Devon trained our (at the time) 4 month old mini golden doodle, Bucky. We put him in the 2 week program and was incredibly impressed at the change in our puppy! Prior to placing him in the program, we had met with Devon and realized he is more than qualified to train our baby. He is an expert in dogs and understands the psychology of canines, which helps him better train and tailor the training program to fit each dog’s needs. Our dogs Mattie and Mollie are doing great since we started training with First Gen. Dog Training. We still have a long way to go but with Deven and Melissa’s help I believe we will have well behaved dogs in no time.

Devan had our puppy Koda and he’s a stubborn little terror. We did the 2 week training and quickly realized he needed longer. But he came home the 2nd time a CHANGED pup! Devan definitely worked magic on him, we were unfortunately planning to rehome him bc he was just so bad. Devan worked miracles with him and we are able to keep him! He is the best of the best! Devan has been the best for us and our dog Sadie! We chose to have our 11 month mini bernedoodle do the board and train. When we picked up Sadie she was a completely changed dog. Cooper is now 9 months old. He has been training and at daycare for the past 3 months. Without the help Devon has given us we would not be Cooper’s parents. We left our 17 week bernese mountain dog with first gen for a 2 week board and train. We planned this around our family vacation and couldn’t be happier. We tried training on our own and got so many conflicting training methods. So we met with Devon at first gen dog training to see if we’re comfortable leaving our dog with them.
