Arrowmont Stables & Cabins

I was there for the trail ride/ horseback riding.
They are very thorough with their instructions. And Wyatt, my trail guide was wonderful. I am a novice rider and I felt very safe. The mountain trail was fun to ride and the scenery was breathtaking. I highly recommend this tour.

My husband and I went here on our honeymoon. He grew up with horses and I’d never ridden one so I was very nervous. The folks that work there were so kind and the horse I had (Whiskey) was so gentle! I would definitely return to see Whiskey again the next time we come back to NC!

Cabins on a horse farm. Quite, peaceful a great get away to relax. Bring carrots or apples to feed horses, sheep and goats. Enjoy a trail ride on horseback. Bring food, it's not very far from town but the road up the hill while paved it is winding making the drive take a while.

It's way up in the mountain, which could be good or bad depending on your mood. The rooms were cute and comfortable. Definitely smell better than your average motel room. It was a nice rustic ambiance. The host provided a book chock full of information about birds and interesting things about the area. I loved getting up in the morning and feeding the horses some apples I found on the ground. The goat was too full to eat! I enjoyed 2 hour trail ride through the 200 acres.

Did a trail ride with my fiancee and I, it was an amazing experience. For being someone who's never ridden a horse this was very rewarding. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. And I would recommend this to anyone who would like to give it a shot.

Such a wonderful place run by a wonderful family. I've known their son for nearly 30s and I have stayed there in 2016, when I needed a break from the Appalachian Trail!

Our guide was awesome. My daughter was a little scared but felt right at home as soon as she took the lead. Loved our instructor, he made us feel comfortable and gave us a little laugh with some well placed jokes before we got on our ride. Would recommend for anyone with children who haven't ridden before.

We were looking for a safe undemanding environment to take young children horseback riding and were impressed by the excellent reviews given to Arrowmont Stables. This quiet unassuming place is in a very remote but picturesque area. It's an interesting looking spot, with (to the delight of children) farm machinery all around. We took 2 children (aged 5 and 2) on the ring ride and it was a delightful experience. I'm not an experienced horse person but I didn't need to be and I had fun watching the children enjoying themselves. The ride was reasonably priced and age appropriate. We were grateful for the help of Eric , a very nice man who worked at the Stables. He led the horse, while I made sure the 2-year old didn't slide off the saddle. The horseback riding experience was wonderful! The horses were beautiful and very well maintained. They did a great job pairing the horses with everyone in my group. They prepared us well to go on the trail with a video training The trail was gorgeous, it wasn’t too steep or rocky. The guides did a great job of pointing our landmarks and plant life. The guides and staff were friendly and seemed very interested in what brought us to the area. I recommend them 10/10. Great experience!

We had a wonderful time staying in a two-bedroom cabin with my friends at Arrowmont Stables. We were in town for a wedding and being adventurous we opted not to stay in town with all the other hotels. We stocked up and made great memories. It is a magical property. If you want to get out of town and really escape to the mountains this is the place! The horses are beautiful and are always ready for a ride. The staff is so kind and accommodating. Nancy Sellers made it extra special along with a friendly kitty named "Tiger" who likes to follow on hikes. Nancy is passionate about the land, and it shows through in her kindness. I can feel the Cherokee spirit there and Chief Cullowhee himself pushing me to run farther up the mountain. I will be back and will recommend to all who appreciate nature.

we had a fantastic time on the fern trail! the workers were incredibly polite and knowledgeable about the area. they were also very patient and explained safety thoroughly. the views were great as well! would definitely recommend.

I stumbled upon this stable while searching for a trail ride establishment in December. We were staying in Bryson City and drove the hour to the stables. The mountain road leaving up to the stables is very twisty and almost makes you contemplate your choice but I promise you it’s well worth it! The horses are very calm and gentle, good safety instructions are provided and the trails are beautiful, even in December! I haven’t ridden in almost twenty years and it was like riding a bike. My nine year old who rides regularly handled the trails like a pro. I highly recommend them!

We had a good time. My particular horse Ed was a bit contrary. Be sure to check which trails you book in advance. We did the combo of fern/ azalea which I didn’t know upon booking. It was a very long ride with very steep hills, rocky , you will brush trees and branches and it’s very uneven. About 2.5 miles and took a little under two hours. There was one lookout spot that was beautiful but the rest was trees, hills and brush. These trails seem to be for a medium to advanced rider. You watch a 30min home video of do’s and dont’s before you ride and they do provide helmets as well.

Loved our ride, the views and grounds. But the staff could do a better job with instruction. The video is a joke. No one is watching. It is dated and very difficult to understand. Our guide was also slightly rushed despite asking multiple times if we understood or needed help it didn’t come off genuine. It was a bit intimidating for all of us. The horses ride on the very edge of the trail and it wasn’t until half way that I heard for the fist time the young lady (Jessica) comment on why they ride on edge and some assurance that we were safe. The adults don’t ride often and first time for the kids- 7,8 and 10 yrs old. They just didn’t get how to control the horse. Maybe some kid friendly instructions when appropriate. Overall it was fun. With some experience you’d definitely enjoy it but for fresh newbies like ourselves it was very intimidating and staff didn’t do their best at helping...

I took my ten year old grandson, who had never been on a horse, for the 2.5 hour trail ride. Our guide was Joshua. My grandson was very nervous at first but by the end of the ride he not only wanted to come back when he visits us again but he wants to ride the same horse “Eddie”. Also, he wants us to buy him a horse….I think we’ll just bring him back to Arrowmont. We had a great day!!!

Arrowmont did a fantastic job with the half day horse camp my child attended. She had so much fun and enjoyed learning about horsemanship. At the end of camp they take a trail ride! This was a great local value and highly recommend for a summer camp.

We had a wonderful time today. Everyone was so friendly an welcoming. Our tour guide he was very knowledgeable and attentive. It was a peaceful ride thru nature. My horse was Whiskey was a great ride. If you are in the area you must stop happy trails. Nancy, thank you for the eye drops they worked wonders.

Friendly staff and scenic ride but the training video is way too long.

The horseback riding is so much fun! Beautiful scenery and the horses are sweet and well taken care of! Highly recommend this place, we are never disappointed!

Had the best time today on the 2 hour trail ride with CJ as our guide. He was fun to talk to and educated us throughout the trails on plant life and the scenery . Highly recommend and we will be visiting every year when we are vacationing in Cashiers!

We had so much fun on the two hour ride this past weekend. The trails took us through a variety of areas with beautiful views. Our guide was also very knowledgeable about the history of the area, and warned us of any upcoming areas on the trail and how the horses potentially could behave. All four in our group seemed to be comfortably matched with their riding levels. Would not hesitate to recommend this stable to friends… and as a bonus this whole area is amazing 🤩
