Our trainer Sharon Westervelt has been excellent at helping with our first-ever dog. We had no idea what we were doing when we brought home our sweet but excitable Golden Doodle puppy. We have been through virtual puppy class and are into our first virtual obedience class. The tips and tools are so effective in calming her down and keeping our family sane. Sharon has made herself available in between our trainings when we are struggling with our pup. Her advice works! With all of the dog training services out there, I was SO happy to have landed at Wonder Dog with Sharon. She truly did do wonders with my dog Benji who was dealing with aggression/nervousness towards dogs, people entering our home, and separation anxiety. I was feeling overwhelmed st everything I needed to help train my dog in, so I sought out a trainer. Working with Sharon eased my mind from the very beginning. She had some incredible insight into the “why” of certain behaviors and very clear instructions on the training. The price was very reasonable for the amount of sessions I did, and you really learn so much in each session! We researched trainers and were excited to have Sharon Westervelt come work with our new rescue dog. We have a Pyrenees/Lab mix. She is a large friendly dog, but wanted to make sure we could handle her and make sure she could become the best family dog she could be. Working with Sharon is amazing. She teaches us to communicate with Kai. Understanding the breed and knowing how best to train us and Kai. The advancement has been incredible. We did the 2 week board and train option for our dachshund, and Cat was absolutely amazing! It was the first time we had left our pup for such a long period of time, and she was very reassuring in our initial call. She also invited us to a socially distant puppy class so we could meet her first, and she clearly knew dogs. I got some great tips at the class, and our pup (who was terrified of other dogs due to Covid and lack of socialization) even came out to play a bit.

Drop off for the training went smoothly, and we were able to request a few commands for pup to work on. Cat sent daily updates and videos so we could see his progress, and by the end, our shy boy was happily playing with one of her dogs! I can’t say enough great things about Wonder Dog Training. We called Melissa when our puppy was almost 6 months old. Our puppy was having trouble not jumping on guests when they came in the house, she had trouble walking on leash without tugging or pulling different directions, and had trouble listening to us and basic commands without getting distracted. I can confidently say that after 5 sessions she is a completely different puppy. She can easily walk on leash around the block, knows not to jump on people when they ring the doo, and SO much more. We are very grateful for Melissa’s amazing ability to connect with our dog and also her patience knowledge. I highly recommen Wonder Dog Training to anyone looking for solid 1 on 1 training.
