I have had a bad back with degenerative discs for several years, most of which I think is hereditary. I witnessed my mother suffering with degenerative discs and spinal stenosis to the point she was unable to stand or walk in her final years. When my back started giving me trouble, I wanted to do something before it got as bad as hers had been. I went through several rounds of physical therapy and several lumbar injections each of which helped for a while. Five years ago I had a lumbar fusion which also helped. I started having some pretty bad back pain when toward the end of my 7th grade year, and it gradually got worse. Around the start of 9th grade, I could barely move without horrible pain. I have quite a few degenerated discs in my back and thru the years, there was pain for weeks at a time either in my lower back or my neck or shoulder.Last year I started to have quite a bit of pain in my neck and shoulder that seemed to be caused by a knot in my back shoulder, I had a MRI which showed all the discs with arthristis starting and was told the pain in the neck was be caused by my lower back.
