I bought the scale kit with 24" load bars to make a scale for weighing calves that would fit my alley. I used 2x12 and a 2x8 cut to length that would fit perfectly between the sliding gates on my loading alley. The load bars have holes predrilled so it was a simple matter of drilling holes in the 2x12s and bolting them down. I wouldn't really recommend the 2x8 because at 10 ft long it sags in the middle (not so the 2x12s) but I fixed it easily by adding some perpendicular 1x6s and screwing them down. I was going to add those anyway just so the calves wouldn't slip so much when the wood gets slick. The scale is super easy to hook up and appears to be accurate so far. I have to admit I spent the extra money with this company because it is MADE IN THE USA. Thanks!

The scale was reasonably prices, easy to set up, and exactly what we needed!
