When I was asked to teach courses for a professional association, I didn't know what fees to charge. However, after hours of research and calculations, I asked David Perdew in a laser coaching session. He told me what to charge, that I should retain ownership of recordings, and what to do if I had to negotiate.
I felt confident meeting with the education chair. After going back and forth, the contract is final, and I'm happy with the terms. Later we'll sell the recordings on their website on a 50-50 basis. Thanks to David's advice, however, I own the program, all materials, and all recordings. I added a two-year limit on how long the association can have a live program exclusive. I also retain the right to sell recordings to individuals from my website.
Best of all, the teaching fees will more than double my income this year and will continue...
