Citizen Café Tel Aviv

The courses are really focused in speaking and cultural immersion. After attending two terms- and heading to my third- I am able to attend business meetings, join conversations and actually understand Israel. Citizen Cafe really helped me to adapt myself to Israel. And Efrat rocks!

I have just finished my first class at Citizen Cafe OOLpan (low intermediate level) and I have to say that this is, by far, the best of my Hebrew language learning experiences, and I have been through a number of them, including the ulpan provided by the government, private tutoring, and another small ulpan that uses the Pimsleur method. I have learned something from all of them, but this is the first one I have gone to where I have actually begun speaking (!!!) and understanding Hebrew spoken on the street. Even more amazingly, I am finally understanding the use of the many different prepositions in Hebrew!

Efrat is an amazing teacher, and really helps you speak the way Israelis really speak, and once you learn the way words are spoken, you actually can understand spoken conversations better.

You have the feeling that you know already the place and the people, cause they remind you a familiar environment where you can feel at home, comfortable, peaceful and happy...

The best Ulpan I have found. It's learning in an intimate environment with professional and enthusiastic teachers who are able to give students individual attention whilst learning in a fun group. I highly recommend this Ulpan and feel that my Hebrew improved greatly as did my confidence in speaking.

'Oolpan' is the best way to learn Hebrew for a few reasons: firs of all, it's more fun than learning. Second is the great teacher, and..for sure, people you meet there and study with. I tried 5 different systems and finally I got mine. It worth it, definitely.

I have gained so much from these courses (I am about to complete my second one). I'm using my hebrew more and more and my confidence has definitely grown and continues to on a daily basis. Efrat is truly the best hebrew teacher I have had (and there have been a lot!) The teaching method is exceptional and learning in a cafe helps to make the whole experience more realistic and fun. I highly recommend these courses to anyone wanting to take major leaps in their hebrew. I have already signed up for the next one

Efrat is the best Ulpan teacher I have come across.. And believe me, I've come across a lot! She teaches you in a way that no other teacher does. It's all about talking and listening to each other and making sure we are pronouncing the words correctly. We learn important phrases and sayings that are used a lot here in Israel (and especially Tel Aviv) and other things that will help us get around easier without feeling 'lost in translation'. Just being part of Citizen Cafe is a great experience. I've met some amazing people and Tamar puts on some great events throuthout the course period, where we can practise the Hebrew the we have learnt in a fun environment. I can't wait for the March course to start. I already feel a lot more confident than I have ever done!!!
