Citizen Café Tel Aviv

The course was amazing!!! My biggest obstacle in learning Hebrew was having the confidence to speak. After being in Israel for 2 years and trying different styles of learning, I'm excited to say that I finally have the confidence to speak Hebrew. The way the course is taught also aids in understanding the fast-speaking natives. I enjoy the small class size and excellent teachers. I can't wait for the next course to begin!! I have a long way to go, but I'm excited about the progress.

After 3 years of living and working in Israel, Hebrew eluded me - until I started the course at Oolpan.

I am learning to speak practical, everyday Hebrew. Classes are light and fun. Forget the long and tedious lessons at government ulpan's (which didn't help much anyway).

Thanks to Oolpan for giving me the "gift" of being able to communicate better in this crazy country. I can't wait to start the next course to keep on improving my Hebrew skills.

Citizen Cafe gives you the kick in the butt, the confidence, and the love for Hebrew that you need to really truly learn it! I, and the people around me, have noticed a great improvement in my learning only after 6 weeks of classes. The feeling of sitting by a Hebrew-speaking dinner table and understand 50-60% instead of 20% is truly amazing and I can't wait to continue to reach 100%!

Amazing pedagogics and community - really a game changer in learnign Hebrew! It's the key that was needed to crack open that jar of confidence to start speaking Hebrew!

I thought the course was excellent. I really liked the style of learning and that the class was small and intimate. I think I gained a lot from the program. I definitely feel much more confident than I did going in. I'd really like to continue on to the next level and highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their Hebrew skills. Efrat & Chen are amazing teachers as I'm sure are the others as well.

This Oolpan works, I went from knowing absolutely no Hebrew to being able to communicate my basic needs and wants around the city as well as understand snippets of conversations after the first two sessions. I have actually enjoyed learning and it has sparked a passion for learning the language.
I've never been excited to learn a language and never enjoyed language courses as much as these. The teachers are fun, and their passion for teaching shows in each interaction they have when teaching. I'm excited to continue learning here, and excited to be a fluent Hebrew speaker sooner than later.

Currently on my third week of Oolpan with Chen as my teacher, wow!! Unbelievable teaching & lessons are so much fun. I'm now much more confident with my speaking & look forward to learning which I never thought possible having attended many other Ulpans. Thank you so much for such a fab course!

I joined Citizen Cafe because I'd learnt Hebrew in various ulpanim before, have been in Israel for 3 years and just didn't have the confidence to speak.. Ever. Happy to say that it really worked for me, I'm speaking loads of Hebrew now & people really can't believe how much I know! This was the most enjoyable learning environment ever, the educational methods are alternative & adaptive to different learning styles. The teacher introduces new fun methods all the time and finds ways to make the class more comfortable to speak, listen, read & write. I'd really recommend citizen cafe, as a side note we covered future tense which was terrifying and ridiculously confusing to me at the beginning of the term!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first semester at Citizen Cafe's Oolpan. I had a number of 'aha' moments as I gained a greater understanding of the hebrew that I hear on the streets of Tel Aviv.Small groups facilitate a more interactive learning environment, making time fly by. I also gained greater confidence to speak Hebrew, armed with vocabulary both relevant and applicable to my everyday life.

The Citizen Cafe network also opens up a rich and varied international community of like-minded individuals. Just do it, you won't regret it!
