In my two years of taking online classes with Citizen Café, I’ve learned so much more than how to speak Hebrew: I’ve learned about the music and TV shows and character of Modern Israel; I’ve learned words that came to Hebrew from English, Yiddish, French, Arabic, Farsi, and Russian; and I’ve even learned how to interrupt people and be impolite like a real Tel Avivian (though I’m still not great at that).
My classmates have been in London and Canada and the United States and Spain and Germany and Croatia, or living in Israel but originally from South Africa and India and Romania and Russia, Jews and non-Jews, each with their own reason for wanting to learn how to speak Hebrew.
