Hands down the best Ulpan out there. They offer a unique teaching style that simply works and is relevant to hebrew actually spoken by Israelis. The teachers are engaging and fun, the company is attentive and relevant, and it’s incredible how far you can progress conversationally with their method. Poor teaching and bad customer service.

I asked my teacher what is the plural of a word ( דלת ) she was teaching us and she refused to tell me because the plural form is irregular and it would be confusing. Paying that much for a course and not being able to make simple questions about plural forms of words that are being taught is quite frustrating and demotivating. After the occasion, I refrained from making questions about any plural form. Google translator worked just fine, but, then again, what's the point of having a teacher then.

In another class, the same teacher taught something that was just blatantly wrong regarding the use of preposition "את", she even wrote the mistake in our shared notebook. When confronted, she conceded that it was not the right way to say it, but argued that "99% of Israelis" say it the wrong way. Based on...

I did 6 levels with Citizen Cafe (starting with virtually no Hebrew speaking background). Now I am proud to say that I am conversational in Hebrew. Their methods works and the focus on conversational Hebrew (not the academic Hebrew you learn in a university class). They goal is for you to get around the streets of Israel, by knowing common phrases, essential words, and also slang. The teachers are all amazing and go above and beyond to help you. Classes are with students from around the world, which is great as you start making friends in different countries.

I stared Citizen Cafe during the lockdowns to dust off my rusty Hebrew from the early 1970s and give myself a cerebral challenge. My spoken Hebrew was pretty good but my reading and writing were atrocious. Started in aqua or turquoise (can’t remember what it was called) and graduated to Purple after a few semesters. I’ve continued to improve. Spent the last 2 winters in Israel and was able to go to the theater, movies, without subtitles etc. Citizen Cafe is worth every shekel. All of my teachers have been stellar. The methods used make learning fun. The other students vary in age and geographical location. I wholeheartedly recommend Citizen Cafe at any level.
