Small businesses are forced to carefully monitor every last penny being spent on supplies, staffing, rent and most importantly, marketing. Every penny must have a return on the investment, or it's simply a waste and the small business owner is taking a risk every time they approve an expense. Being asked to join a local Chamber of Commerce isn't always an easy decision. The value is often unknown and the efforts that a Chamber might promise could be unsuited to your particular business model. It's a gamble. I joined the Blue Springs Chamber based on a strong recommendation from the President of the Overland Park Chamber, who voiced a strong opinion that it would be money well spent.
