I went to Blue hills for drug treatment and basically received very little. The way it works you have individuals who are there for drug abiuse as there primary diagnosis and others for mental health as there primary diagnosis. This all basically means your treatment is supposed to be tailored based on this primary diagnosis hence you will have what’s called a substance abuse track and a mental health track. Well when I was there I was on the substance abuse track along with about 4or 5 others but there was about double or triple that amount on the mental health track and so us substance abuse people were basically lumped in with the mental health track and barely given substance abuse treatment at all even though that was our primary diagnosis and the reason we came to blue hills. When I asked about this I was basically told “Well we don’t have enough staff to run the substance...

My experience here has been one lie after another. I was told I would be here for seven days for mental health. When I get here, they go over all the paperwork so fast, never giving you the chance to read everything. I am now stuck here for 30 weekdays, because weekends don't count. If you try to AMA, they retain your belongings for 72 hours. You are also responsible for your airfare home. I would recommend going to your local hospital before coming here. I failed to mention there is no psychiatrist on staff. So if you need a medication change, a PCP is the only medical professional on staff. You see your therapist once a week. Since housing is free, this is considered an outpatient facility, they do not need to get prior authorization from your insurance company. Which means they can get by with being out of network with your insurance and not tell you.

Blue Hills Recovery Replied: Hi Tracy, I am sorry that your experience was conflicting with us. The outpatient process can feel overwhelming the first time and might be confusing. If you’d like I can put you in touch with one of our clinical staff to review the process so you are more familiar. Our goal is to keep clients...
