My Aunt spent the last year and a half of her life at Autumn Care Karns. I am so thankful for the love and exceptional care she received. It’s a beautiful place and the staff treated her like their very own Aunt. In fact, the staff didn’t even call her by her first name, she was always called “Auntie”, which was so endearing to her. Auntie was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia 3 years ago when I had her at another Assisted Living facility in Knoxville. What a devastating disease, she was a nurse for 40 years and super independent by nature. As she progressed, the management at her old facility wanted to move her to “Memory Care” which was in the basement. This was her worst fear, as she felt that was where people went to die. I don’t fault the facility though, it’s a typical scenario in order to “secure” those who are considered “exit seeking”.
