Although I expected bare root, my JAPANESE PAINTED FERNS arrived as perfect tiny plants. They started to grow and thrive almost as soon as planted AND the deer have totally left them alone. I have never ordered online before but needed to experiment with deer "resistant" plants. If all goes well, and the deer continue to ignore them, I will order many more next season.
