I’m 79 and have struggled with Complex Sleep Apnea (a combination of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (where my airway closes) and Central Sleep Apnea (where I stop breathing scores of times per hour) for several years. In 2014, I started with a CPAP machine, but still woke frequently and could tolerate the mask for no more than 4 hours, if that. More likely 2 hours. Then, after more sleep studies, the tubing on the machine was changed to counter unhealthy carbon dioxide levels. Then the off-label use of acetazolamide was added to help.
But still the mask stayed on for just a couple of hours a night I was getting about 5 hours of sleep. My doctor on a number of occasions recommended that I be seen at Sleep Apnea Dentists of New England. I contacted them, but never followed through.
