I am not one to leave negative reviews, but I'm genuinely shocked about my experience with Dr. Shubin and think it is worth sharing in hopes others will avoid such a heart breaking experience. I received cosmetic treatment in which I had four implants and one bridge. Not one, but TWO of my crowns fell off of my implant posts within ONE MONTH of receiving them from Dr Shubin! After nearly two years of treatment between the orthodontist and Dr Shubin- I was so pleased with my new teeth and thrilled to show off my brand new smile. It was the beginning of a new chapter in my life! The doctor/staff were aware that I would be relocating to Northern CA following completion of treatment. Instead of sending me off with care instructions, Dr Shubin and his assistants emphasized how sturdy/durable my new teeth were and the only instruction I received upon completion of the final phase of my implants was to "avoid tearing things with my front teeth such as beef jerky, steak, or bagels" because the bridge I received in front was more fragile than the remainder of the four implants. Fast forward to 3 weeks later. I have moved a 12 hour drive away and within the first week of my move, I was enjoying a piece of candy and one of my crowns came unattached from the implant, leaving me with an exposed post in the front of my smile. It was a Saturday so I did my best to remain calm, saved the crown, and waited until Monday to contact Dr Shubin for a suggestion of what to do. I anticipated he would recommend a local dentist and offer to cover the bill, considering the circumstances. Monday morning I woke up to remove my retainer to brush my teeth and ANOTHER crown fell off of it's post, left dangling from the adhesive! I was panicked and livid- it was time for me to begin a job search in a new town and I was missing two front teeth! I immediately called the office and spoke with the assistant, Marissa. She placed me on a brief hold to speak with the Dr. I anticipated that Dr Shubin would like to speak with me regarding my dental emergency, but was instead instructed by the assistant to simply find another dentist to fix this problem and she provided me the materials which Dr Shubin had used for the crown and cement. Shocked, I asked if I would be reimbursed for the repair at another dentist closer to my new home. I was denied reimbursement and told Dr Shubin would only be willing to fix them free of charge if I came back to Orange County... A trip which was completely out of the question seeing as to how I had arrived to Humboldt County days before! I found myself another dentist who was able to repair my implants, although it cost me $350 out of pocket- an expense which hits hard as a college student who is already paying nearly $600 a month for my implants which have already began falling out. To my surprise, four days have passed since I contacted their office and I have not yet heard back from Dr Shubin or his staff who do not possess enough concern to follow up regarding this mind boggling emergency. It seems as though they were already equipped to lose a client knowing I was moving out of town, and do not care to reconcile a nightmare of an experience. Needless to say, I will not be returning nor recommending Dr Shubin to anyone seeking a dentist!
