Natural High

I’ve utilized Natural High Lessons with both middle school and high school age students. They are all very engaging. It’s not easy to engage today’s youth but the vast majority of teens are really into the videos and brief, entertaining and relevant lesson plans. I appreciate how the Natural High videos portray people from diverse backgrounds that teens can relate to- from skateboarders to basketball players to musicians to break dancers, etc. Jon Sundt’s heartfelt story alone (of his brothers) truly captivates the audience and I always begin the Natural High lessons with Jon’s story and his compassionate message and hope for the future. I’m picky about what I teach during the Drug & Alcohol unit but I look forward to Natural High every time! I highly recommend Natural High for all educators, counselors, social workers, parents, etc. A “Natural High” indeed!!

I love these real life people sharing their stories and how choosing to not use drugs and alcohol strengthened them. I am in elementary and the kids love and are truly amazed at the talent of these individuals.

I teach online in a zoom class driver's education I tried to make it where it is conversation that I'm having with my students. I use your website as a way for them to explore and make up their own mind about what is a good choice and what is a bad choice.

The curriculum design is built for a conversation about a serious topic. I like that we think things through together, and I am not just scaring them!

I asked them to give me a review of John's story and picking choose the different celebrities that are there. I always get positive feedback from students.

My assistant instructors are Oreo and Ned are always present for this lesson! The kitties, never come in for any other lesson too!

I use the Natural HIgh curriculum as a final project each year, the students really enjoy being able to make videos.

I've used the Natural High Program for very long time. I was able to share information with my Elementary students but now that I am in a Middle School there is so much more that can be used for this age. Great Program!!

The reason that this effort began is soul-crushing, but from that genesis has come an effective effort to keep kids off drugs and becoming healthy, productive and interesting adults. Everyone involved is just awesome: the athletes and professionals, the teachers, the students and this organization. I've been involved for quite a while and love these guys. Full stop.

I've been working with Natural High for over 15 years! Not only are their videos and educational materials top notch, but they're constantly evolving to stay relevant with the issues impacting young people. I recommend ALL of the schools who hire me check out their website. The natural high movement is strong across the country and they're a big reason why. Long live Natural High!

My 2 young adult children have chosen not to pick up a drink or drug, after hearing the details of my battle with addiction, resulting, thankfully, through becoming sober and actively participating in the (free!) recovery program, open to anyone seeking sobriety, called Alcoholics Anonymous. I introduced the “Natural High” website to my kids when they were pre-teens. The aesthetic pictures within the site, along with its upbeat content helped put a face on the possibility of having fun without being under the influence of mood altering substances. These same kids are now well adjusted, healthy college athletes, who have never felt the need to use drugs or alcohol to fit in or have fun. Every school in the world should be sharing Natural High with their students and parents. Kids engage with these powerful stories of well-known people that they look up to from all walks of life who are living their lives naturally high! During our drug, alcohol and tobacco units, I emphasize "Natural Highs" to my 6th grade health students on a yearly basis. Having this program and materials available is helpful in reinforcing the power of making good choices when it comes to drug use! Using professional athletes, musicians and artists as role models helps to fortify this concept to young adolescent teenagers.

I have been a school counselor in Washington state for 26 years. I have been using Natural High's curriculum since 2009. Natural High's program is constantly updated and meets the students were they are. The parent resources are also amazing! My students look forward to the Natural High Lessons every year. If you have not tried it, please start this year, kids need this more than ever now!

We learn best from listening to other people's stories, and Natural High provides a wide variety of personal experiences that positively influence the artist, the singer, the dancer, the skater, the athlete in all of us. Some programs come and go because they are not effective, relative, and/or interesting any more. Natural High is tried and true. Additions to content are made regularly. My students compete with each other to decide which videos we view. The exercises encourage students to reflect. Natural High has been a winner for my students. I recommend it for anyone working with children/young adults, especially those that wish to lead a substance-free life while meeting personal life goals.

I cannot say enough positive things about Natural High. I have utilized this resource for over a decade both professionally as a school counselor and personally as a parent. The NH content, statistics, and videos are relevant and engaging for multiple ages and levels. I have used this amazing tool in my Health Education class for years. Helping students find things THEY love outside of school is a missing piece of education. This program helps young people find their passion. The sky is the limit for these kids, all they have to do is stay away from the bad things in life. The conversations that Natural High brings into the classroom are some of the most discussions that these kids will have at school.

What is even cooler is that the kids LOVE talking about their passions. Kids are not always great listeners, but they are great imitators. Having such positive role models talking to them about what they love demonstrates what a drug free life looks like helps them believe they can succeed too!

I am an elementary school counselor who uses naturalhigh.org material with my fifth graders. They love the videos and discussions and get so much out of them. The material is engaging and impactful all at once. I love it.

Natural High videos and resources are such a compliment to the work with do to educate young people in our schools about the dangers of substance abuse.

I have used Natural High resources in my health & PE classes for the past 10 years. The messages and well-known story tellers are positive, upbeat, and truly have had an impact on my students. It is awesome to watch students realize and identify their natural high(s). Natural High has also been extremely helpful to use while we have been teaching in a remote setting. Their curriculum is easy to adapt and implement whether you are in-person teaching or using an online format. Natural High was a great resource for our Red Ribbon Week. We had our students watch the videos and then did a contest where students showed or explained what their 'natural high" was; what they chose to do rather than drugs or drinking. We had students make videos, write an essay and one explained his in the form of a poem. Natural High sent me a variety of stickers for the students with activities that could be a student's natural high ( singing, basketball, travel, cooking, etc.). I liked having the week focus on positive choices and it was Natural High that inspired our school. Thank you so much for your help.

I loved the Natural High curriculum for its ease of use for the Joan MacQueen Middle School classrooms and its salient content for high engagement.
