I had a clog in my bathroom that needed unclogged. I called my home warranty, AHS, who is contracted with Melton Plumbing. Melton plumbing came out on 1/2/19. After paying the $100 deductible, the plumber informed me that he could not get to the clog, and needed to charge me out of pocket for taking the toilet off. Desperate to get my toilet fixed, I agreed. After an hour or so of working on the toilet, the plumber informed me that he was unable to reach the clog. And that I would need to hire a company to access the clog from the roof, as this is an add on bathroom and he was uninsured to get on the roof (as most companies are). He then left. I need to mention how FILTHY this company left my bathroom. Feces were splattered all over my shower, sink, floors, and walls. And it was just left like that. I called around and was finally referred to a nearby drain company who was insured to get on the roof. They came out, didn’t even mess with the toilet (their invoice proves this) went straight to the back yard and found a main access point used for the add on bathroom. They unclogged our system immediately, and didn’t even have to get on the roof. It took me about a day or two to clean my bathroom up, and get everything bleached. The first night we began using it again, I noticed that toilet was leaking water under the toilet. I called Melton’s the next day, who informed me to contact the warranty company so that they can receive a work order. I did this, and a day later, Melton’s Plumbing sent the same plumber out. I informed him that I needed my toilet reset, and after 30 mins or so he said it was complete. That he just had to replace the wax ring. That same day, I went to use the toilet. Noticed it was STILL leaking water. I didn’t bother to call Melton’s this time, as I knew they would just tell me to call the warranty place. So I immediately called the warranty company, and was placed on hold. After reviewing the plumbers notes, the lady informed me that Melton’s stated that my “toilet was the wrong size, and until I get that fixed, the leak will continue.” BUT THERE WAS NEVER A LEAK UNTIL MELTONS TOOK MY TOILET OFF. I even have my inspection report, from November, proving this. After fighting with the insurance company all day and getting nowhere. I decided to hire my own plumber to come out and fix Melton’s problem, before water damage occurred. I am now out $500 ($150 used for the deductible and toilet removal, another $30 to get my toilet reset- meaning $200 was used basically to hire Melton’s to come out and fling feces around). This company is seriously incompetent, and I will pay out of pocket next time before using them through my warranty.
