MCRM Fertility

My experience with MCRM fertility was far from ideal. It started off (what I believed to be) promising, with very responsive staff, quick turnarounds for calls and emails, and fast scheduling for the intake conversation and financial discussion. However, as soon as I paid thousands for my package, I felt an immediate shift in the culture. I will say that they apparently were going through some sort of restructuring of the process of intaking clients, but that was not made clear to me until well after the fact (and after I had raised multiple concerns and complaints, as a sort of explanation or excuse).

I felt as if I was on a cruise ship: a mass amount of people all destined for the same port in a nameless gaggle where everyone gets off at the same time, has the same itinerary, and boards back together too. I felt like a number in a process and was passed off between 2, maybe 3 coordinators, as well as other techs and staff. The onboarding "orientation" was not very helpful: I assumed it would cover things like how to actually do an injection (considering we're going to be subject to hundreds of them), but it was not. It also used medical terms and drugs that I've never heard before interchangeably, assuming we knew what they meant and that certain terms are synonyms.

As someone who has never gone through this before, I would've appreciated a FAQ, a self-help page, a better organized list of resources, an anonymous group to ask help from, or to at least be treated that I have no idea what I'm doing. I did share my frustrations to the staff and to the social media page directly. I was told they'd do a post-mortem on the intake process, help adjust it for the future, and ultimately deleted my posts.

The entire time I felt like the blind leading the blind and I had to advocate for myself because no one was willingly sharing information. Some of (what I assumed to be the biggest appointments) - like drawing blood for the actual pregnancy test - were done without any context or contact. The lab tech drew it and sent me home - no information on what to expect or when, which felt like the common theme.

Hindsight is 2020, and a myriad of factors combined to make it a less-than-desirable experience for me. I could have definitely done things differently on my end too, but I am just glad it is over.
