Mama Roza Garden Childcare

I am SO grateful and happy that I've found Esta and Frida! These owners are not just super involved with each of the classrooms, they are the center's lifeblood. My daughter gets excited to see Esta greet her each and every morning with a sincere, "Hello Beautiful, how are you today?". Having studied Early Child Development at University myself, I knew exactly what I did and didn't want for my children. Firstly, this place is a child's fantasy come true! Their outdoor playground has traditional toys and tricycles etc but they really use the space as an outdoor classroom to teach the kids. Inside there are custom-made hidey-hole tree lofts to read books in and take naps. There are tower gardens in each room where the kids can grow herbs and small plants. There are out of this world hand made lunches that even incorporate some of the plants that the children help to grow. There are many, many art projects and supplies to keep my little one active and help to develop her fine motor skills. You can tell that a lot of thought and love went into creating each of the age specific rooms. Each has a distinct personality. They are filled with toys and games and books etc that are completely age appropriate to whatever room you're in. And for our specific family, what's most important about Mama Roza's is that my child loves coming here. Our daughter is newly diagnosed autistic and we weren't sure how she would react being away from me. While shy at first, I can honestly say that she's excited to go to school each and every morning and I have to bargain with her for "just 5 more minutes" at pick up time. While you really can't put a price on quality, I can tell you that I've found their fee scale to be appropriate, especially with the long hours they are open to accommodate working parents. (6:30 am - 8pm) I wouldn't normally post prices but I don't want to throw off any potential families because all of these luxeries seem "too expensive". Our daughter is in the Pre-K room and one can expect to pay $250/week for full time. If you're reading this review, you're looking for childcare and I can guarantee you that you WANT to make an appointment for a visit to see this place for yourself.

I'm currently writing this review in the middle of a pandemic. And so what is relevant now, might not be relevant in the future but these rooms have become safe "Bubbles". Our room currently doesn't have more than 8 kids. I can't tell you how reassuring it is to know that my child isn't being exposed to dozens and dozens of kids/parents like at some of the larger centers. And although the center is located in the HYS Centre in the downtown corridor, they have a separate exit/entrance if need be so that the children are assured of minimal exposure. (all children have their temperature taken upon entry and parents aren't allowed in the rooms during the Covid crisis)
