I knew at least a year ago that I would not be selling my house in the ‘traditional’ way. Problem was, no one I knew had ever done this, so I had no guidelines of who to go to or where to start. Our home was in need of renovations and had other work needed to make it market ready. We did not have the cash to invest to make those improvements and really needed to make a move for our kids who were going to be entering middle and high school in the fall. We called two investor services, including Express Homebuyers, and the difference couldn't be more stark. The other company gave us an eye-popping (and completely unbelievable as my wife is a realtor and we knew better) over-the-phone estimate, no doubt designed to lure us in with caviar dreams.
