Why the excellent rating? Well lets start with our arrival. We had reservations to stay at Delta Accommodations-Alaska Country Inn while working at Fort Greely. We had stayed here last year in the new cabins and was really excited about coming back.
When we got to the hotel, we were told we would be staying in apartments down the street. Needless to say, we were disappointed because we didn't know what those apartments would look like. So off we go down the street. When we arrived in the parking lot, the first thing we noticed were the BEAUTIFUL colorful petunia plants hanging. We sat in the car for a few minutes just staring at them. We were going to be on a mission to find out the secret before we left.
When we opened the door to the apartment, we were VERY pleased. There was nothing antiquated about this place. It was remodeled with an up-to-date vibe , spacious and very clean. We came equipped with kitchen gadgets and laundry cleaning items. But this apartment had it all. We didn't need to bring anything.
We stayed for three weeks and it felt like home. The rooms were very spacious and extra blankets to keep you warm. We enjoy cooking, so being in a big kitchen away from home, made cooking meals so much fun.
Back to the petunia's. We had to know what was used to keep those flowers so beautiful and most importantly...healthy and full especially this time of year. One day I arrived at the apartment and I saw the secret, Mr. Glenn Livengood! As he nurtured the plants, he shared the secret and then told me about the different plants to grow in cool weather. He told me he would get us some information. Days had gone by and we just kept admiring the flowers. The day before we left, Mr. Glenn taped a handwritten note on the door titled 'Flowers that do well in Alaska' and listed over 15 plants. What a nice touch and made staying there even more special. You could tell he loved what he does and was good at it.
The day before we left, the cleaning lady came in to clean because she said we were suppose to be checking out that day. We could not contact the manager for a quick resolution, so we called the front office and Linda researched and resolved the issue. There was a miscommunication on what day we were suppose to check out. This was not the hotel's error, but again, Linda resolved it and we were able to remain in the apartment that night. A big THANK YOU to Linda!!!
If we stay in Delta Junction in the future, we will stay here. The up-to-date facilities and staff make this place feel like a home away from home!
