Chubby Trout

Underwhelming food and drinks.
Perhaps my expectations were too high, but this restaurant experience did not live up to either the Google ratings or my experience. Arrived at 5:45 on a Friday, and we waited on the outside patio for our other two guests to arrive. Ordered one of their featured cocktails, only to find out that they were already OUT of those at this time on a Friday! (Poor planning?) The outside patio area is very nice and much quieter than indoors. The benches we seated at for our table, really uncomfortable. The interior space is quite loud. The food was mediocre: when I go out, I like to have something I could not create at home, and that was not my experience at this place. I mean, it was all right, but nothing that I have a desire to go back and have again. The drinks were weak and really disappointing to our table. The four of us each ordered something...

Wow!!! The Cubby Trout was fantastic!!! I’ve never had trout like this!! Our server, Ashley, was great! Very little wait time for service & food! And the tempura fried cheesecake was outstanding!! Highly recommend!

The Food and service were both magnificent. Amanda A was our server and she was very friendly and provided excellent service. She joked around with us and overall made the dining experience worthwhile.

Amazing food my this is my second time here. It is a busy spot however worth the wait. I had the filet tips with house vegetables (delicious green beans)

I love this place! The food and the atmosphere were fantastic!

I understand they are known for there fish, but we are not fans of fish. We were told many non fish item on menu that are very good. We had burgers that were very tasty. Waitress was funny and a joy to be around. Very good kraft beers. Highly recommend.

Good food and service. We're greatful that staff moved us from area another party we're being loud.

We arrive at 4:30 for an early dinner. We were seated immediately. We had a great waitress who promptly took our drink order. The wait to get our food was a little long considering we beat the dinner rush. We had a sushi appetizer which was wonderful. Our dinners were ok. The chicken pineapple sandwich was dry. As was the chicken in the wrap. The burger that was ordered received positive reviews. The carrot cake for dessert totally saved the meal. Seriously the best carrot cake I've ever had. DO NOT leave this restaurant without trying a dessert.

My biggest complaint is that it was freezing inside. Our entire table kept their coats on during our entire time in the restaurant.

I've been twice in the past week. Both experiences have been really good. My first visit I ordered the Chubby Trout entrée, and on my second visit I had a Cajun seafood dish from their daily special list. I enjoyed both meals - the seafood was well cooked and well seasoned. The servers during both visits were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

It's one of my absolute favorite places to get sushi 🍣 and other amazing food, and the mix drinks are always on point

Service great. Sushi good, prime rib good, sadly walleye was a miss - lots of bones, overdone, rice was dry and crunchy (not in a good way).

We felt lucky to get a seat as the place was packed. Our server was excellent and the platter we split was very good. Beers we chose were also good; could have been colder. We will stop here again as we travel from CLE to Chicago often.

Had the Spicy tuna roll and Rainbow roll...they were amazing. Second time, we have eaten here, on the past three days. Wait staff- Yessenia and Liz are fabulous!

I make this wonderful restaurant a stop everytime I travel, both for the great atmosphere and the outrageously good fresh water fish dishes. The first time I came here 3 years ago Tanner was my bartender/server and single handedly made me a regular - even if I only as I come through the area once or twice a year . The food is so wonderful and the service is fantastic! I go home at least annually & tell my family at Notre Dame and all friends to come here. I Love This Place; I Love This Bar — the Fat Hop selections are fantastic micros . You can’t go wrong at The Chubby Trout !!!!

Delicious food and wonderful service. Generous portion sizes. Bonus points for having a separate gluten-free menu!

Wonderful dinner. Our server was “Yesenia”. She was knowledgeable of everything and allowed us to have a fantastic dining experience. I did not take any photos but photos already here do it justice. Started with calamari full order. Absolutely fantastic. Nice battered square 4” lengths not rings. Pepe Crab bisque definitely a winner. I had almond crusted Walleye with baked potato and sauteed veggies. Loved every bite. Wife had 2 rolls, chef Gil roll and kamakazi roll. 2 salmon nigiri. I was amazed at quality of these rolls and prep. Winner winner! I did see a nice prime rib dinner also. Can’t say enough goodness about this meal. Thank you Yesenia!
