A large work group and myself came in last night for a work dinner, boy were we impressed. First and foremost our server Tiffany was terrific, the minute we sat down (at a table set for 16 individuals) she greeted us with a warm smile attention to the details and quick turn-around even though some of us early birds arrived early to feel the atmosphere and to gauge the menu.
Once everyone arrived, we ordered multiple orders for appetizers of the crab cakes, prime potato skillets, calamari and pretzel bites. We were pleasantly surprised to receive our apps in such a small time-frame as we were one of what looked like many larger party groups in an already booming restaurant! Appetizers were to die for! Tiffany was laser focused on attentive service, refilling our beverages before we even had a moment to see they were tilting towards empty!

Ordered the smoke prime rib with vegetables and sweet potato fries it all tasted great!!! We had Megan as a waitress and she was outstanding. I will definitely come back again and again and again.

We dined at The Chubby Trout on 01/28/2025. I have to say, the experience was made even more special by our server, Bailey. From the moment we were seated, she greeted us with a warm and genuine smile, immediately making us feel welcome. Throughout the meal, she was incredibly attentive, checking in at just the right times without ever being intrusive. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made sure every need was met with professionalism and kindness. It's rare to come across someone who not only excels at their job but truly enjoys making guests feel valued. Bailey went above and beyond to make our visit memorable, and for that, I couldn’t be more grateful. If you’re lucky enough to have her as your server, you're in for a fantastic experience!

We came in with a group of 4 of us at noon right when the restaurant opened for the day on Saturday. Couple of us had the lunch special sushi which included 2 rolls for each of us. Very good food and service by Katelin was really great.

Upon entering The Chubby Trout, you’re greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that feels like a welcome escape. The ambiance is cozy yet refined, offering an experience that balances casual dining with an upscale touch.

Dining solo, I took a seat at the bar, where I was promptly attended to by the delightful Meagan. Her attentiveness, charm, and knowledge of the menu elevated the evening. At her suggestion, I indulged in one of their house microbrews—Sandbar, a beautifully crafted blonde ale. While I don’t typically partake in beer, this one was an exception worth making. Its crisp, refreshing notes were so enticing that I found myself enjoying not just one, but two pints—an indulgence I didn’t regret.

Best place in Elkart. Sushi is great, staff and atmosphere are perfect. Very convenient location right off turnpike.

The sushi and mushroom filet tips were AMAZING! We were seated right away and everyone was very hospitable. Liz was was a wonderful server who was super friendly and cared for us well! We will be back, even with over an hour drive!

My husband and I live nearby, but this was our first time eating at the Chubby Trout. The restaurant is adorable, both inside and out. It looks like a barn and has a very cool country vibe. We were immediately greeted and seated by friendly staff. The server was very attentive and the food came quickly. It was my husband's first time having sushi. We tried the Spiced Salmon roll and the California Roll. Both were absolutely delicious! Neither of us drink alcohol anymore, but for those who do they have a full cocktail bar and the drinks I saw looked amazing. And we got our two rolls and sodas for $27! We both agreed that we will definitely be back and highly recommend that you give them a try if you are in the area.
Also, if you don't like seafood, they also serve steak and some chicken dishes.
