I had severe CTS due to my career as a hairdresser of 37years. After initial diagnosis in September at an Orthopedic Doctor near me in NC, I put off surgery to January because the healing time would have interfered with the busy holiday season in my business. The procedure here would have been “Open Carpal Tunnel Release”. The doctor here was very vague on how long I would be out of work. I went into a full on search to get a realistic amount of time I’d be out. That search landed me in a Facebook Carpal Tunnel Support page. The information there made me well aware that 3-5 weeks was a minimum healing time and if I went back sooner Id be at a risk of infection with such a large incision.
In that group I also was informed about Carpal Tunnel Express and Dr Jurbala! I did a bunch more research and decided that this was the way to go! I cancelled the appointment I had here and scheduled at CTE, the moment I did I have such a feeling of relief and felt peace about my decision.
The out of pocket cost was less that 10% of the other surgery, so the travel to Florida was a no brainer cost wise.
Today is day 6 and I am ready to return to work tomorrow as I had planned! My husband and I are both so impressed with Doctor Jurbala and his whole staff at CTE!
The procedure was fully explained, painless and minimally invasive. There was no general anesthesia just local, no need for narcotic pain med, just aleve and Tylenol for the first 2 days.
I recommend anyone that deals with CTS to research this option and fully consider it! My lesson in this journey is “Be your own advocate”! Why suffer with the condition or more damage from surgery that you need to have?
