I scheduled an appointment to move five large boxes across town, a simple 20-minute drive. The boxes were packed, taped, and ready to be loaded onto a truck, with no need for stairs, elevators or additional services. The sales representative by the name of Chase quoted me $140, which I agreed to. I arranged the appointment 24 hours before the move. After being quoted $140, I had made a $100 deposit.
Upon receiving the confirmation email, I noticed discrepancies: it claimed I was moving a studio/1-bedroom apartment with three flights of stairs and five extra-large boxes for a total of about $500. I immediately tried to contact the sales rep, but my calls went to voicemail. When he called back from a different number, I questioned the details. He said he mistakenly assumed I was moving a studio or 1 bedroom with stairs, which I never mentioned. I don't even live in a studio and...
