Horrible experience with staff and billing— same as several other reviewers have noted. Hated giving them even 1 star.
Son needed crowns we were told we the procedure was $7000 and they had checked with our insurance for coverage. We paid the $7000 up front prior to work being done and we expected about $2200 back from our insurance company.
Well Buchwalds office never got pre approval from insurance ( not even sure they called them)
The claim was denied but we had paid in full so we assumed we were paid up with Buchwald. After the work was done we were told we were going to have to pay more for treatment.
They never communicated the amount or why the changes in price.
The amount was $4000 more and we found that out after they filed a claim with our insurance.
This office is an in network provider and they have a contracted rate for treatment not...

Patients Beware of Fraudulent Billing and Insurance Claim Practices at Buchwald Family Dentistry in Richardson, TX

While we have no complaints over the care we have received over the years from Dr. Max and his immediate staff, the new office staff including billing and insurance is an absolute train wreck.

They do not follow proper pre-authorization procedures. When they do submit a claim, it has incorrect codes and includes charges that are beyond what is considered reasonable, customary and contracted pricing with the insurance carrier.

If you do choose to work with this office, make sure you get everything upfront in writing. Follow up with your insurance provider in advance for pre-approvals as well. Do not trust that Buchwald Dentistry will work it out for you in advance.

Love Dr. Buchwald! I have been a patient for over 20 years. I do have problems with their billing person recently. They are asking me to pay more than the contracted amount allowed by Bluecross. My EOB says one thing and want me to pay another amount. To me it's sneaky. While speaking to her today, trying to get an explanation, she threatend to turn me over to collections and hung up on me. Not appreciated at all! I have contacted my insurance for further investigation. It may be time for me to find another Dentistry office. I sure wish this person handling the billing process wasn't so rude and this experience never happened. So sorry to complain! Dr. Maxey you're a great dentist!

Dr. Max and his crew are awesome. I’ve been going for several years now and no longer dread going to the dentist. Always enjoy the conversations and laughs with Dr. Max and Chris. What a blessing to have been referred to this dentist.

Have been going to this office for 23 years. I have cancelled future appointments as in last 2-3 years staff is constantly turning over and sadly inept.

Everybody is always very professional and personal. Dr. Buchwald is top notch and explains everything. Olivia did a great job cleaning my teeth. Very good visit.
