My father was admitted here in September. He is in his mid 80's, just had a below the knee amputation and is deaf. First thing that went wrong is not providing a translator. They did provide picture cards but little good did that do. His first night alone he pressed his button for help, all night no one checked on him because the incompetent staff was too scared to go in and check on him because they don't know sign language. Maybe it's a lack of intelligence or just plain cruelty, but leaving someone in their own waste is degrading and could have caused another issue with his healing stump. When they told my mom they made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. My mom refused to leave so it wouldn't happen again. They rudely informed her they would not be accommodating her. A translator would have been a great idea, and to not provide one is illegal. They could only offer a speech...
